About the Instructor
Maria is a passionate pottery instructor at Jay Art Studio, specializing in teaching preschoolers and school-aged children. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, having studied art and craft with a major in pottery and ceramics. Alongside her work at Jay Art Studio, she is also a pottery instructor at the Shadbolt Center for the Arts in Burnaby.
Working with clay offers countless benefits for both children and adults. It’s a hands-on activity that enhances fine motor skills, fosters creativity, reduces stress, and encourages emotional expression. Maria loves helping her students explore these benefits while guiding them to create something uniquely their own.
One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching pottery for Maria is witnessing how her students’ personalities shine through their artwork. She is always amazed at the growth and confidence they develop over time, both as artists and individuals.
Teaching is not just her profession; it’s her passion. Every day, she is inspired by her students and the creative energy they bring. They teach her just as much as she teaches them, and together, they continue to grow through the joy of art.
